Things to know for Dress Rehearsal and Show Day:
Dress Rehearsal time and date: June 13th, 2025 Dancer Check-in at 4:45PM
Location: TBD
What to bring:
Dancer in 1st costume with skin tone leotard underneath. Correct tights on for their 1st dance. Dancer’s pop up mesh hamper should have a name tag with a photo of the dancer, dance shoes needed per costume, snacks, and non spill water bottle. Costumes should be in order starting with final shoe/ tights and accessories followed by costume on top for their last dance at the bottom of their hamper and working their way to their first dance in order.
No personal backpacks, makeup bags, ect will be allowed. Only 1 Mesh pop up hamper labeled ziplocks containing shoes, snack, accessories, or lipstick.
What to expect for Dress Rehearsal:
Dress Rehearsal is where we practice having dancers in costume on stage for spacing, lighting, music, and so on. Dress Rehearsal is mandatory, unless a family emergency has risen. We want to make this as close to our show day as possible so that all dancers feel well prepared.
Dancers should arrive with 1st costume on at call time to sign in. Under their costume, all dancers must wear a skin tone leotard. Hair may be in briad(s) or ponytail for Dress Rehearsal. No makeup is needed at Dress Rehearsal to ensure dancers' costume(s) stay clean for show day.
This is where families will learn where to drop off their dancer on show day and which volunteer will be with them throughout the show. Non volunteer parents may watch dress rehearsal after entering through the audience doors.
We value our dance families being able to see that their dancers are safe through dress rehearsal and show time. Dancers will all be seated in 1 assigned section in the auditorium. However, to keep the flow it is important that non volunteer parents do not take their child at any point during dress rehearsal or show day. Please do not attempt to take dancers during intermission as all dancers will bow together at the end of the show.
Dancers will be signed in and out with SMD Staff or Volunteer. Failure to follow rules from a dance family may result in being asked to leave with no refund.
What to expect for Show Day:
Show Time and Date: June 14th, 2025 at 2:00PM
Location: TBD
Dancer Drop off/Call Time: 1:00pm
Costume: Your dancer should come with their first costume including the correct color tights for their dance and a skin tone leotard underneath their costume. (With the exception of large tutus, these may be put on after signing in.) If your dancer is in more than one dance please be sure their additional outfits, accessories, and shoes are in 1 mesh pop up hamper in show order.
Hair: Please have hair in a middle part low bun with hair spray or gel holding back fly aways.
Makeup: Age appropriate and natural looking is encouraged, but not mandatory, so that you can see dancers facial expressions. Mascara, blush, and lipstick will help dancers look well under the bright stage lights. Eye shadow should be neutral with pop over eye crease to see their expressions. It is up to each family to decide if their dancer can wear makeup, so this is not a must at our studio.
What to bring:
Your dancer will only be allowed 1 mesh pop up hamper on the day of dress rehearsal and show. It is up to each family to purchase their own pop up hamper. If your dancer is in more than one dance, have their costumes, tights, shoes, and accessories in their hamper. Place accessories and shoes in the hamper 1st followed by the costume. This way they do not lose accessories or shoes easily.
Please be sure this bag has non sticky or messy snacks. We suggest pretzels, crackers, bananas, apples, cheese sticks and plain salted chips. Add a non-spill water bottle labeled with their name to dancers' hampers. No other drinks will be permitted to be sure dancers stay clean for the show. Note Step in Motion Dance is not responsible for lost or stolen items during the dress rehearsal or show.
If you have any questions please be sure to ask before show day and dress rehearsal as our staff will be very busy both of these days. Join us for our annual packing and prayer party to have all your questions answered in a timely manner.
